The conjoined twins, who were referred to the National Hospital, Abuja, from the Mararaba Medical Centre, Nasarawa State, are yet to be separated. They are however reportedly in stable condition.
The set of twins, who were taken to the National Hospital last Thursday, are at present receiving attention at the SCDU of the hospital.
The hospital’s head of public relations, Tayo Haastrup, said the conjoined babies were safe and receiving special attention from the doctors.
Asked when they would be separated, Haastrup said: “I can only confirm that the children are in the National hospital. But I can’t confirm when the surgery to separate them will take place. However, I hope to get a clear picture of the situation by Monday (tomorrow).”
Safiya, a seamstress whose husband Sani Ahmed is an Arabic teacher in one of the mosques in Mararaba, appealed to the federal and state governments as well as well-meaning Nigerians for help to save the lives of the babies.
